National Night Out

The Houston County Rescue Unit was formed in 1963 after a tornado destroyed a house blowing a victim into a nearby pond causing him to drown.


​Houston County residences recognized the need for a squad of specializing in search and recovery and organized a team.


​The Houston County Rescue Unit is made up of men and women of the surrounding area. These members are all volunteers who devote countless hours of service to Houston County and the surrounding counties in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.


​​HCRU members receive neither individual pay or compensation for their service.


​HCRU provides emergency search and rescue services to any law enforcement, emergency management, fire or medical agency within 100 miles of Houston County.

​Including Dale, Coffee, Geneva and Henry Counties.


​Regular meetings: Second Thursday each month at 6:30 pm at the HCRU Headquarters Building.


​HCRU Headquarters Location: 1234 Enon Road - Webb, Alabama.
